OPI DS Opulence & Stamping

I recieved this OPI as a gift from a girlyfriend from my forum.  I put it away in my OPI drawer and had forgotten about it but I am so so glad I decided to dig it out.

"Natural" Light
I'm not sure exactly how to explain this one.  It's somewhat of a scattered holo, almost but it has more sparkles than that. Some of the Designer Series polishes are difficult to explain, this is certainly one of them.

"Natural" Light

This is two coats of Opulence over Orly Bonder and sealed with OtD.

"Natural" Light

See the pretty sparkles?  It's got a lot of silver flecky particles, too.

I used BM201 for this design, with WnW Black Creme.  My nails are so curvy sometimes it's really hard to get a full image design to transfer, but I filled the space with gems to attempt to make it look on purpose.

Sally Hansen Hard Lemonade

Another yellow for you guys! I just looooooooooove yellow. It's so happy, sunshiney. I can't wear it in clothing as it washes me out but I'll wear it on my nails.  I always overlook Sally Hansen because I've seen them a thousand times but I'm glad I took a second look at Hard Lemonade.

"Natural" Light

This is four coats (can't expect much from a yellow) over Orly Bonder sealed with Out the Door.  When I first used it, it was super runny but from leaving it open to paint my nails, it thickened a bit, I think.  I was able to do only three coats on my right hand.

There is a super subtle shimmer in here.  You can't see it very well at first but once you know it's there, you can't not see it.

Maybelline Banana Puddin'

AHHHHHHHHHHH. I love this color. It's my favorite shade of yellow and for it to be in polish form is just perfect. It's so sheer though, it builds at around 4 coats but it is so pretty I don't even really care.  I received this from a dear friend on my nail forum for Easter - how perfect!

"Natural" Light

This is: Orly Bonder > 1 Coat of Revlon Powder Puff > 1 Coat of Banana Puddin' > OtD

Flash
Yea, it took 4 coats, but it is an older polish and the formula is sheer and runny a bit.  My index finger looks gloppy because I smudged it and then tried to fix it, well you see how well I did that, hahaha.

PSA: DermStore kinda blows.

A few things I want to say before I expand on the issues I've had with this company:
-I hope my colloquial speech here isn't disregarded. I'm not a professional, this is just a candid account of what happened.
-I never thought I'd be put through the ringer by what I thought to be a professional company.
-Everything said here is 100% true, I'm not embellishing for entertainment's sake.

I received a 25$ "gift card" from My Glam Bag.  It was actually a 25$ off a 50$ order or more. Since they carry Butter London and Essie I figured I'd use the gift card to get some stuff I normally wouldn't want to pay full price for.

My order consisted of 2 Butter Londons at 14$ a piece and 3 Essies at 8$ a piece.  A grand total of 52$ which when all is said and done, I should've only been charged a total of 27$ for.  This is how it played out:

1. I got an email saying 3 items were on back order and they were going to ship me what was is stock. (March 16th)
2. I called their number and the customer service representative said they split it and would ship me the 2 Essies that were in stock.
3. I inquired if the discount applied to split orders, they said "no". So I said cancel the split order, I'll wait for the whole order.
4. He told me he cancelled it.
5. A week later i receive 2 Essies with a $16 payment in my bank history
6.I  call to confirm since they didn't do what I asked, if I was going to receive the next order with a full 25$ discount since they didn't apply it to the first order.
7. The lady said she couldn't address it until the 2nd order was shipped and then to call back and have it sorted out.
8. April 6th, I get my 3rd Essie and 2 Butter Londons that were back ordered. It was a $36 order, minus $12.50 and i was charged $23.50 - They applied HALF of the gift card.
9. April 7th I just call back, as I was told to, to sort it out. A total SHREW of an individual answered the phone who said, "Let me get this straight, you think we still owe you money?" So i explained steps 1-8 to him, only to receive attitude from him and said there was no supervisor in right now and he'll deal with next week.
10. On good faith, I waited until today, April 18th and still did not receive a phone call.
11. I call back and explain the entire ordeal to someone who puts me on hold, but I was disconnected.
12. I call back again and get the same lady who I spoke to in step #7, she said she remembered me, but of course I had to explain the whole thing again anyways.
13. After she remembers me, she says, "So, you want me to issue you 12.50$ - is that what you want?" Of course, I say yes and after over a month of dealing with their crap, I was finally issued my refund.

My grievances with this?
-Why did CS guy #1 tell me he cancelled my order when he didn't?
-They split my order without my permission, which would've resulted in me losing the 25$ gift card and being charged for the total amount had I not been so persistent about it.
-The nasty CS guy #2 assured me I would receive a phone call regarding my issue; I never did. Also, he was rude, that is annoying in itself.
-The tone of the woman in #13 - is that what I want? It's what should be done, lady. I didn't do anything wrong, you guys can't keep your shit straight. She made me feel as if she was doing me a favor by fixing a company error.

Resolution: Yes, I'm getting my $12.50 back but not until I played ring around the idiot with them for over a month.

Tread lightly with this company.

Cupcakes for Lilacs!

My friend Dani sent me an amazing homemade franken that I just can't get enough of.  I usually have problems with glitters but her mix was perfect and wore so wonderfully on me. It's adorable and perfect and just lovely!

"Natural" Light

My giant hand and the tiny bottle makes it look even more comical.

"Natural" Light
This is one coat of Cupcakes for Lilacs over two coats of b.s.n. "Smooth Cloth". Yes, that is its name. It's some whacky dollar store brand with names that I'm convinced were picked out of a hat. But the colors matched so nicely and I don't want to waste Cupcakes for Lilacs so this was a good combination. Over Orly Bonder and sealed with NYC GCS.

I'm not sure where else these are sold, I've never seen them or heard of them outside my local dollar store.  They're surprisingly not bad for a dollar.  They're most definitely NOT B3F as they have a strong scent but they wear decently, cover pretty nicely and are only a dollar.  I've noticed certain ones smell worse than others, "Smooth Cloth" was pretty mild.

Brucci Sparkling Bordeaux

I went out of my nail polish comfort zone with this one. It's dark, and red.. and a glitter.  But it looked so pretty in the bottle.  I liked it on me too, surprisingly.  But as with most glitters, I end up peeling it off in sheets either while commuting to school or being bored in class.

"Natural" Light

This is two coats over Orly Bonder sealed with Brucci Nail Polish Dryer. I saw it and was curious, it's comparable to Out the Door actually.  It dries fast but I can't judge its wear time as I peeled it off.  I probably won't get another bottle of Nail Polish Dryer as it was around 5$ and I can get OtD cheaper.  But I was curious and that curiosity has been appeased.

"Natural" Light
I'm going to be a really excellent blogger right now and tell you that the design is a decal nail sticker that I don't remember where I bought it from or what brand it is.  I'm super informative, I know. I probably got it at KMart on sale, that's the extent of my knowledge on it.  I detach them from the plastic packaging and keep them in a little drawer to save space. Consequentially, I never know where my decals are from.

"Natural" Light
Something else worth mentioning, after I took pics I added another coat of top coat on my nails.  This glitter looks a lot grittier than it felt. My ring finger, in the pictures, has two coats top coat, so that is eventually what it looked like.  It evened out really well with an additional coat.

KleanColor Mango

My dollar store has a KleanColor display! And it's a real dollar store, so they're only a dollar.  This encouraged me to pick up some new types I'd normally pass on.

KleanColor Mango is an almost neon creme of sorts.  It's a strange polish but very bright.

"Natural" Light

This is three coats over Orly Bonder sealed with OTD.  It wore really well but KleanColor's take a little bit longer to dry.

"Natural" Light

You could easily do only 2 coats, I did on my right hand.

It was so fun to wear this, my hands were distracting me.  Definitely a summer color, not so much early spring, but that's OK.  If you can get your hands on this one, do it!

Fresh Paint Emo and KleanColor Blue Satin

I found the Fresh Paint polishes at Five Below, I'm not sure if they're sold anywhere else. And I feel like I hit the jackpot, my sister informed me that our local dollar store had a display of KleanColors. So today's mani is a layered one using both brands.

"Natural" Light

This is two coats of Emo over CND Sticket and sealed with Beauty Secrets Top Coat.  It's a dark blue jelly.  I swatched it on some tape on my arm so you can see that it really is blue.

See? Blue!

I figured KC Blue Satin would look nice over it, so that's what I did.

Such a pretty combination!  This is one coat of Blue Satin sealed with OTD.  This was just a swatch and remove, so I don't know how they did with wear.  I can't wait to play with the rest of my new beauties!

Revlon Royal & Blue Mosaic

Not much to say about this except it wore really well on me and was almost too shiny to photograph.

"Natural" Light

This is two coats of Royal with one coat of Blue Mosaic over Orly Bonder and sealed with OTD.

See? I don't know how to photograph glitters. Blue Mosaic is really pretty but didn't translate well.

OPI My Pointe Exactly and Crown Me Already!

I've seen swatches of the OPI NYC Ballet collection and the only one that caught my eye was My Pointe Exactly.  It is super ultra sheer grey.  At three coats it was barely visible but there is something lovely about it.

"Natural" Light

Like I said, 3 coats was super sheer.  I swatched it real quick when I got it and decided to jazz it up.

"Natural" Light

What you're seeing here is 3 coats of My Pointe Exactly, one coat of Crown Me Already! and then one more of MPE.  This is all over Orly Bonder and sealed with OTD.

Macro Nail Shot

I had spectacular wear with this combination! Granted, I change my polish almost daily but I'm able to discern when something isn't working on me.  I had no chipping and I wasn't able to pick it off and it was a pain to remove.  I suppose I'll have to incorporate my glitters like this so at least I can get some wear out of them.

Flash

You may have noticed my thumb is not in any of the pictures.  Have you ever seen the 3rd Lord of the Rings? You know how the last what seems like 45 minutes is all cutscenes that wrap up the story?  My professor did that to use for over 20 minutes Monday evening and I evidently chewed the length of my thumbnail off.. so it's ULTRA MEGA NUBBIN right now.  I don't even remember doing it.  I'm NOT, nor have I ever been, a biter - always a picker.  I don't put my fingers in my mouth ever, I'm a germaphobe about that stuff. I'm not even sure how it happened but my left thumb will be taking a short hiatus.

Seaweed vs. Da Bush vs. Stranger Tides Comparison

I noticed I had a few of these murky, washed out greens so I decided to do a side by side swatch comparison only to realize they're really almost identical.  The pictures really do speak volumes so the comparison is between Sinful Colors Seaweed, Essie Da Bush and OPI Stranger Tides.

"Natural" Light
This is three coats of each over Orly Bonder and sealed with OTD.

Flash

"Natural" Light
The OPI and the Essie appear to be dead on dupes; Seaweed appears to be the slightest more green. Maybe. I can't tell what the difference is but it comes off more.. vibrant?  If you own one, you don't need the others. All three formulas were fine; they needed three coats but my coats were thin. Hope this helps!
