Indie Polishes: Process Photos

I always find process photos about anything to be super interesting, so today I share with you process photos from my corner of the basement!

Find your glitter! So happy my glitter jars are clear. I'm making a batch of Solider Of Fashion from the Planetside 2 Collection!

I measure out my glitter on weighing paper because it has no static charge.

I pour it into the base filled batch bottle filled with base that has already been tinted and is ready to shake.

Polish!

Got my bottles ready, balls in tow.

And the brushes and caps too..

Pour!

Voila!

Glowy Blue Embers

Every once in a while I'll layer some polishes together and fall in love and want to set up residency on my fingernails, hahaha. I'm currently wearing one of my favorite polish combinations ever and I'm super excited to share with you!

"Natural" Light

This is one coat (!) of Zoya Song, with one coat Hits Phenomena Afterglow and one coat Finger Paint Asylum.  The layerings are over a coat of Orly Bonder, sealed with a coat of Gelous and then Out the Door. There's like, a circus-y carnival on my nails.

Wintry Nails with Snowflake Stickers

It hasn't even been cold lately, not sure where the inspiration was for this.  This is one of those manicures that look much much better at a distance, not super macro friendly.  I had one with it, though!

"Natural" Light

I'm patiently waiting for my thumbnail to grow more, too. I've never broke a thumb nail before, was so bummed when it happened. And I don't even know HOW it happened!

"Natural" Light

For this mani I sponged on China Glaze Dance Baby and Seaspray with which made this purple-y base you're seeing.  Then I sponged on some China Glaze Frosty (one of my all time faves!), added dots with my dotting tool using Frosty again and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. I had ordered these stickers from Born Pretty over the summer, was fun to get to use them! So many shapes and styles of snow flakes.

LOL, I tried some nail art. Promptly removed and replaced.

Zoya Bevin and Essie As Gold As It Gets

I got this Zoya from a promo a few months back but didn't get around to wearing it until now.  Sometimes I know there are certain polishes I'm interested in but they don't scream out to me once I get them, then they sit until I finally wear them and then.. it's love! I've had this on for three days which is unheard of for me. I either pick it off or get too bored of it and remove within 48 hours. This combo has staying power.

"Natural" Light

Shown is two coats of Zoya Bevin topped with Essie As Gold As It Gets, all over Orly Bonder & sealed with OTD. Zoya describes Bevin as "a dusty, medium sage green color with teal tones and a creamy opaque finish", which I think is a perfect description!  Essie's AGAIG is slowly inching its way into my Top 25 at least. Not usually a fan of gold anything, but this polish is so delicate and pretty.

Hope everybody has a safe and happy holiday!

Jelly Sandwich: Verity Deep Violet and China Glaze Luxe and Lush

One of the only ways I can keep chunky glitters on my nails without sheeting off in big pieces is to sandwich it between a jelly polish.  This works out nicely because the finished look is by far one of my favorites!

I ended up doing two coats of Verity Deep Violet, one coat China Glaze Luxe and Lush and then one more of Deep Violet, sealed with OTD and over Orly Bonder.  Deep Violet needed some extra strokes before I put on the glittery flakie because it was streaky, so I'd say VDV was about 2 and 1/2 coats.

The flakies in Luxe and Lush are not typical flakies, they're thick and not flexible like most are.  You can see on my index finger a piece is sticking up and wasn't flattened by the addition coat of VDV or the top coat. It's not a big deal to me, but it may be to some.  Also worth mentioning is that the flakes aren't the color shifting kind - they're more so just iridescent. It's different from the usual which can be refreshing or frustrating depending on your feelings towards it. Overall though, I love how it turned out!

November Ipsy/MyGlam Bag

WOW the November MyGlam/Ipsy bag came fast.  November snuck up on me bigtime!  Lots of fun stuff in this bag, take a look!

A pretty shiny dark brown bag, the label inside the bag was stitched in, and it said Ipsy - I guess they switched officially?

First up, the Balm Meet Matt(e) eyeshadow.

It's so cheeky! I can barely handle it.

I don't know how to describe eyeshadow, but it was a dark charcoal brown color. No shimmers or sparkles, so matte.

Also included was Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Dare Devil. It's way too dark for me but a good introduction to the brand. The website says this is a voluminzing lip gloss which I wasn't aware of until I put it on and it burned/tingled. FYI.

There was also an eyeliner pencil from Starlet Cosmetics, which I've never heard of up until now, the shade is "Chocolate".

Up next is Chella Eyebrow defining gel. I've been meaning to get one of these types of products for a while, so this was a nice surprise.

There was a nail polish in here! Yay!

Kind of bummed it was a bar glitter, though.  Such cute packaging, this is Nailtini in Millionaire. The label was put on with a giant bubble underneath it. Personal pet peeve, no biggie.

Four thin coats.
It's actually a really interesting polish and it reminds me a lot of Mardi Gras. It flashes purple depending on the light!

NEW! Oopsie Daisies Wintertime Wonder Collection

I know I haven't made any prior announcements about this collection but between the two power outages from Hurricane Sandy and midterms, I'm just happy I was able to complete it!  The Wintertime Wonder Collection consists of four holiday and winter themed polishes.

First up is Carols by Candlelight.  This is a mix of red, green and white matte glitter along with some green holo sparkles in a clear base.
