OMG Nail Strips Review in Peacock

So for review today I have set of nail strips sent to me by the company for review.  I was able to pick two designs, Peacock being one of them, and then a holiday one that I'll do later on as the season approaches.

So I pretty much had a really positive experience with these and was pleasantly surprised.  I don't think they're real nail polish like the Sally Hansen ones (no nail polish smell), but they weren't those glue-y sticker knock off ones either - phew!  They were slightly tacky which helped applying them with ease.  I had no trouble applying these and followed the instructions.  These wore the same on me as the Sally Hansen ones do, which is just a couple of days. I'm terribly rough on my hands and had been packing a large Oopsie Daisies order for Sweden and these held up really well!  Came off easily with acetone. No gooey melting, no mess. These were VIBRANT! I loved that about them, they jumped off my nails!

I did one hand with no basecoat, and on with. Both hands had topcoat and I didn't notice a real difference.  The only con to these I can think of is that I wish there were more sizing options.  My nails on my right hand are larger than those on my left.  My index and ring finger on my right hand (not shown) had pretty significant gaps but next time I'll use a larger size one (the extra thumb maybe?) and cut it down to size.

OMG Nail Strips are available online at the OMG Nail Strips Website

They are currently offering coupon codes as well! Four for $20 promotion with coupon code “4pack” and a 10 for $45 with the coupon code “10pack”.  The strips are available individually for 7.99$ a set.

Born Pretty Water Decals Review + Coupon Code

Today I have an item sent for review from Born Pretty! I chose to review some water decals since I've never used them before and I am so so glad to have picked these.  I've had nothing but a wonderful experience with them!

I chose the little yellow hibiscuses for this manicure, seen above.  The package came with a bunch of different styles, photos to follow.

I used two decals on each hand for accent nails.  Shown is two coats of Brucci Sylvia's Pretty in Purple.

So, these were the instructions that came with the decals.  I really do use the term instructions loosely here, though.  I'm going to list, step by step, what I did to complete the manicure.

After painting and top coating your nails and making sure they're completely dry (I'd say 20 minutes is good, I waited longer however because I was doing stuff in between):

  1. Cut out the desired designs you'd like to use. (Make sure you peel the acetate off; mine fell off without needing to be peeled.)
  2.  Dip the design into water and make sure it is completely saturated (This didn't take 10-20 seconds; more like 5 worked for me)
  3. Use a finger from the hand you're NOT decorating - slide the decal off on to the tip of your finger.  At this point, it should be upside down, full color design facing down.
  4. Position the decal above the nail you're applying to and gently place it.  Be sure to smooth it down.
  5. I personally waited for the water from the decal to air dry instead of blotting it, to avoid messing up the design.
  6. Once any dripped off water is dry, apply top coat.
Some things worth noting:

  • The "instructions" included did not mention that they would transfer backwards. I botched my test run because of this, so that's why I listed revised instructions above.
  • These don't work like those kiddie tattoos, although its a similar concept. You have to flip the decal         around and apply the lighter colored side down, full color side up.
  • Once the decal is on your nail, if your fingernail is still wet, you can slide the decal around! Awesome! You can slide and gently nudge it to reposition it to exactly where you want. I love that quality about these; stickers and stamping have a much more of a one-shot type of quality.
  • The decals are so detailed!  I love how fine the details are.
  • Water temperature doesn't seem to matter. Mine was cool from the tap.
  • The decal lay very flat against your nail since they're so thing, I like that.
Despite those minor complications these things were a breeze to work with.  No lining anything up, no lumps or bumps. I love them and I'm going to buy more when I can.

Above are some more shots of the manicure, that I've quickly fallen in love with, by the way!  Below are more designs that the package came with.

Review: BornPretty Stamping Polishes

BornPretty asked me to review an item, I chose the stamping polishes since I'm always on the hunt for good ones!  This set is a set of 5 mini bottles, available here.  The set includes white, black, yellow, blue and a muted, maroon-like red.

I ask that my lack of stamping skills be ignored for this post and that we focus on the opacity of the polishes, since that is what makes a good stamping polish.  Shown is 2 coats of Finger Paints Paper Mache with stamping from plate BM-315. I love the blue, it is vibrant!

These polishes were super thick, which is exactly what you want with a stamping polish.  I want to add I had trouble with them at first, due to my own mistake.  I was cleaning my stamping plates with acetone infused with glycerin, which wasn't allowed the polish to fill in the grooves of the plate.  Once I realized that, I was able to get them to perform as expected.

Shown above are the same colors, except I used white stamping polish instead of black, over two coats of Finger Paints Black Expressionism.  The white IS opaque enough to stamp over black! That's definitely good news. The lack of my stamping ability had nothing to do with the polish.  I was disappointed that the colors don't show over a dark base, though.  The yellow seems like it wants to, and it is close, but it doesn't pull through.

The set of 5 polishes is about $6 and BornPretty has free shipping.  If you use code "CA10L91" at check out you get an additional 10% off  your order!

I did a previous manicure with the black stamping polish back in September, view HERE.

These were provided for review.
