Revlon Colorstay Costal Surf Swatch + Review

FIRSTLY, I must address my absence.  I completed my full time student teaching internship last month, graduated college (finally, holy cow), and just got back from a wonderful vacation from Wisconsin!  I miss blogging, so so much. I hope to be able to make more time for it, truthfully my nails get BEAT UP when I'm working and I get too lazy to take care of them. I miss this, I miss y'all and intend on incorporating it back into my routine.  I've seen some adorable Funky Fingers at Five Below.. perhaps I'll have a homecoming giveaway soon ;)

Anyways! On to the polish!  My dear bestie Brittany and I went to an Ulta out her way and I found this beauty on sale for $1.50! WHAT. Not only was it super cheap, it's super amazing. Excellent formula. This is two coats, but I think one thick coat might even be possible.  The color is so summery and perfect.  Also, I'll be without thumb swatches for a while as I broke the joint in my thumb and can't quite bend it yet although I have gained a bunch of mobility back so far.

I tried a new blur technique on photoshop, which I think only will work for cremes since it doesn't affect the color at all.  Shown is two coats of Coastal Surf over Nailtek II Foundation and sealed with OTD. I'm assuming that since this polish was on super clearance that it might be discontinued. I'm not sure, but if you see it..grab it. It's a new fave!

Sinful Colors SinfulShine in Blue Suede Shoes - LOVE it!

I love this polish. I've worn it three times already and I haven't even had it very long.

The SinfulShine line is a series of polishes with "Gel Tech" that makes them similar to gel polishes in terms of shine and wear.  I'm thrilled with this polish (only SinfulShine I own at the moment), I look forward to getting more.  This is a dense creme, only two coats - could do one if it was thick enough!  The shade is beautiful, too.

I had a bit of an incident while showering and took off a chunk of my nail with my razor )= My index is gonna be a bit wonky for a while but I couldn't manage to cut the rest down to match. So annoying too as my index takes a beating from everyday life and is the slowest to grow. I'm just pretending it matches and invite you to pretend along side me :D

And here's what it looks like with my new Oopsie Daisies polish "Mod" on top of it! One coat of Mod.

Sinful Colors Sail La Vie Swatches

I went to Walgreens yesterday and saw the Sail La Vie Collection; I bought just a few of them, though.  This one is actually titled Sail La Vie as well.

Shown here is two coats over Orly Bonder and sealed with Out the Door.  Formula was great, as it is with most Sinful Colors creme polishes.  The first coat was streaky and I didn't think two coats would be enough.  I was impressed with how nicely the second coat leveled out and a third coat wasn't needed.

Oopsie Daisies Nail Polish - Unlikely Hero

I wanted to dress up my previous Ulta Blue Streak mani so I added one of my own polishes for a little liveliness!

Shown is two thin coats of Unlikely Hero over Ulta Blue Streak, sealed with Out the Door.  This manicure reminded me of pajamas for little boys, haha.  The primary colors I think did it topped with the preconceived concept of "super heroes".

Ness, from Earthbound, the inspiration for the polish, is the epitome of an Unlikely Hero!

Unlikely Hero is still available, along with the rest of the Earthbound Collection, for $8.50.

Ulta Blue Streak Swatches

Another blue creme today!  This one is actually really pretty and I think after wearing it, I don't need to get a recent released polish that comes close that I've been eying. Breaking into my untrieds was a good idea!

I did this mani a bit differently. I was wearing it for a few days and had some tipwear so what you're seeing here is three coats of Blue Streak over NailTekII and sealed with OTD, then another fresh coat of Blue Streak with no topcoat.  Formula was nice, but required three coats.

This is one of the older bottles from Ulta but the polish is still available as far as I know, just repackaged.  I bought a ton of these when they were switching over for only $2!

--------------------------

Just a friendly reminder: holiday polishes are still on sale for $6 - this includes Carols by Candlelight, Festivus for the Rest of Us and Keepin' It Kosher.  There are also currently some last chance polishes available from the Planetside 2 collection. Happy Shopping!

Ulta Moody Blues Swatches

I can't believe this was left untried for so long. I've had it for ages, but I think having my Ulta polishes in the back of one of my Helmer drawers causes me to forget about them.

Moody Blues is a navy/dark blue/-almost- blurple creme.  Shown is two coats over NailTekII and sealed with OTD.  I'm not sure what caused the bubbling; it's been a while since I've dealt with bubbles so I wasn't even on the lookout for them.

Jessica Barely Blueberry

Barely Blueberry is from the Jessica Mio Gelato! Collection that I saw and was suckered in by Scrangie's swatches.  Couldn't resist the pastel cremes.. my BFF got me 4 of them for my birthday :D This one is so pretty, I'm excited to show it off!

"Natural" Light

The formula for this was polish was good, but odd.  It's somewhat sheer, almost jelly-like (just a little) but it builds super nicely to an opaque creme finish. There's something "airy" about it, but it doesn't effect the outcome. Shown is three somewhat thin coats over Orly Bonder and sealed with Out the Door.

NEW Funky Fingers Duochrome Swatches

I picked these three duochromes up at my local Five Below.  There was a fourth, called Primrose, that just wasn't my style and just.. fugly. So it didn't come home with me. These are three I did get: Venom, Pink Pixel and Mood Ring.

Venom is a violet based duo with a green shimmer, the most stunning of the three I feel. Shown on all swatches is 2-3 coats (it varied per nail, per color) over Orly Bonder and Sealed with Out the Door.

Add caption
Mood Ring, a teal/turquoise base with gold shimmer. I'm pretty terrible at describing duochromes, so I apologize for that.

Pink Pixel, a pink base with gold shimmer.  The least complex of the three, not really a duochrome so much either as the shimmer didn't really show two different colors.

Funky Finger polishes are 3 for $5, or $2 a piece available at Five Below.  I've got a ton of them, personally.  These however weren't my bag, so I gave them away.  The formula on these was a little bit runny but totally workable.

Glowy Blue Embers

Every once in a while I'll layer some polishes together and fall in love and want to set up residency on my fingernails, hahaha. I'm currently wearing one of my favorite polish combinations ever and I'm super excited to share with you!

"Natural" Light

This is one coat (!) of Zoya Song, with one coat Hits Phenomena Afterglow and one coat Finger Paint Asylum.  The layerings are over a coat of Orly Bonder, sealed with a coat of Gelous and then Out the Door. There's like, a circus-y carnival on my nails.

Zoya Zuza Mattified with Stamping

I meant to post this so long ago, oops!  Zoya Zuza has become one of my favorite polishes, I absolutely love it.  I did a full post on it previously but since I did add to the mani, I wanted to share that with you, too.

"Natural" Light

This is the previous mani stamped with BM314 and Konad Special White polish and I used the NYC Matte Top Coat to mattify it. It created a whole different look :D

"Natural" Light

I reaaally like how Zuza looks.. but I also reaaally like how it looks matte, too.  This didn't last long though, it began to chip after a few hours. Harrumph!

Don't forget to enter my Halloween Harvest Giveaway! Ends this weekend!

Hey, Sailor!

I didn't do a Memorial Day mani, or a Fourth of July mani, so I felt it was due time for a patriotic Labor Day manicure! This one is inspired by the colors but it also reminds me of a sailor costume for Halloween maybe. You know how all costumes have a "sexy" version? Sexy witch, sexy cat, sexy ophthalmologist? I don't know, lol.

"Natural" Light

So yea, there is smudging. I really didn't wait long at all before applying the topcoat so this was more of a user error than a product one. I use a cheap striper I get from the local dollar store, no brand name really.  I use it on my toes all the time for a French pedi and it never smudged because I wait long enough. I was excited to see this finished so.. smudging it is.

"Natural" Light

I used the incredibly gorgeous Zoya Song for the tips. I'm pretty sure it's a one coater, I only needed to run the brush over once to get this opacity!  It's sparkly and a deep blue and uh, really pretty. I used nail guides I bought from Ebay:

There are so many fun designs included in the package!  The lines on my nails were really neat but I wanted to add so white which is why I went over them.  I applied topcoat and added a gem while it was still tacky.
