"favorite girl" & a skin problem

Uh.. what day is it? Friday? I feel like Monday morning, lol.  I figured I would give a quick update and post about a new polish I bought the other day.

This blog crosses my mind about 3 times or so a day. I miss it but have been successfully dodging it for more reasons than "lack of time".  As mentioned before, the gloves I wear are destroying my hands.  No latex allergy but the powder has been brutal.  I have mild dyshidrotic eczema on my hands, and it is (in my case) stress triggered.  The constant washing, lotioning and gloves have caused the skin on the sides of my fingers to literally peel off by the end of the day.  I don't want to post pictures of raw skin and aggravated blisters.  Up until this week I hadn't even painted my nails for about a month in order to not call attention to them.  The topical steroids my doctor has prescribed help, but it doesn't cure it.  I've done research on the condition and there isn't much you can really do.  WARNING: if you decide to be ballsy and google pictures of it, it is pretty gory.  As I said, mine is mild (actually, very mild in comparison) but micro focus is rather unforgiving.

Work has been truly exhausting.  It's hot, the air conditioning isn't the best, and enrollment has picked up.  There's a handful of coworkers who have turned being lazy into a true art form, meaning those who do work have to work harder to pick up the slack.  A lot of people there seem to have unofficial "daycare tenure" and can evidently do no wrong.  I'm in the 18 month - 2 and a half year old room by myself, there is a lot of lifting, chasing and general running around. It's mentally taxing, too. I come home and watch TV for a bit, and usually fall asleep. I have an 8 hour day, but usually spend my hour break trying to catch up on work that needs to be done. I am by no means a morning person and waking up at 6:45 am blows. I don't think anyone wants to listen to anyone gripe about work, but this is my little soapbox!  It is really nice having a break from school though.  When I come home from work, there is no sitting at the computer typing paper after paper.

On to the polish (=  I tried having long(er) nails while working but holy crap it was impractical.  I have super nubs now.

Forgive the cat fur, my Ralphie LOVES this thing, haha!
Polish damage after ONE day of work )=

Funky Fingers - "Favorite Girl" 3 Coats
A pretty pink foil.

I don't have many (or at least, wear many) foils, but this is really pretty.  The application was somewhat splotchy, but I think it has more to do with me being out of practice.  Some lighting and holding my hands just the right way so thin spots of the polish.  But about 95% of the time you can't tell - you'd really have to be looking for it to see it.  2$ at five below - totally recommended!

And back to my previous paragraph - does anyone have or know of anyone with dyshidrotic eczema?  I've seen information saying to keep it dry, some says to keep your skin moisturized - it's all pretty confusing.  Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.  My doctor(s) basically shrugged it off, they had NO useful advice.

MOODSTRUCK - color changing nail polish.

I bought my first bottle(s) of color changing polish from Five Below for 3$ each.  There was a decent selection but I chose two that looked pretty to me.

"Orange to Light Orange" with one coat of ChG "Bad Kitty"
This is the "cool" tone. Hands were cold, lol. Excuse the
chipping on the thumb, too.  I did it almost immediately after
painting both hands and was heading to bed.
This is the "warm" tone.  I wore this a few weeks ago
when it was warm out and it stayed this color all day!
A side by side comparison.  Two fingers in hot water,
two fingers in cold.
1/2 dipped in cool water.  This is how they look when I'm
not cold or warm.  My longer nails create a really cute
French tip type of look!

I have to laugh at the bottles though.  I've never seen such poor design, the bottles are curved so the labels don't sit right.  They keep bubbling up.  Also, it looks like 12-year-old-me designed the label when I first discovered Photoshop. RAINBOW GRADIENT YAYYYYYY. 5+ points for the font choices xD

The formula on these is pretty sad.  It's quite streaky, it dries matte so it's very prone to chipping without a topcoat of some sort.  Also, speaking of design flaws, the whole bottle is about the same width, so the polish collects heavily at the top of the brush, making it a goopy mess that needs to be scraped off every time you rest the brush back in the bottle.

Since it is a matte finish though, it dries INCREDIBLY fast.  Which is a double edged sword.  I chipped my thumb nail almost instantly after applying Bad Kitty and my topcoat.  The 4 hard, already solidified layers of polish underneath I'm sure contributed!  And yes, this was 4 coats to eliminate streaking.

It's cute and novel though - for 3$ I'd totally recommend it (=

BTW, SEMESTER OVER *EXHALES*

update & a franken

Every once in a while life comes along and kicks you back into reality.  Out of the nail polish world and everything else that brings you happiness, it grabs you by the shoulders and shakes you HARD.  Mostly, I've been dedicated a lot of myself to school, my very very sick little kitty, family and friends.  My nails are still in pretty decent condition, minus a few minor breaks and such.  They're still always painted, just typically things I've done already.  Money has been tight in reference to the vet bills so I haven't bought many new things at all, polish included.  Blogging here makes me happy, and is a positive distraction - I need to remember that.  Plus its springtime now, which means dad is fishing.  Which mean dad brings his camera with him.. which means its usually in his car in or his man cave.  I forget to snap a few pictures when it's not sitting in front of me!

Here is an old post from my back logs that I accidentally skipped over.

I haven't named this one yet!  But is it the exact color of a hard boiled egg yolk.  The bottle is round, so it really looks like one!
All out of  Lemon Fizz! I need another bottle!
I absolutely LOVE that color.
The holo shimmers are SUPER subtle.
Also, sorry Britty & Coryn - I know you always read these and have been wondering what's up! I just haven't had it in me lately.

SH Nail Effects & stupid thieves

I went to 3 different stores today because I decided to finally try out Sally Hansen Nail Effects.  After months of turning them down and passing, the two main stores I've seen them at (Harmon's & Walgreens) were ALL OUT of the patterned ones.  Go figure.  I finally found (some) at Wal-Mart.

I hafta bitch about this though.  They were picked through, mostly solid colors only left.  There were a few patterns but what really pissed me of is they were all (except maybe 2) opened and MISSING either one sleeve of strips or both sleeves of strips. Here's where I complain:

  1. If you're going to shoplift, why would you steal *half* of the product? What are you going to do with EIGHT polish strips when presumably you have TEN fingers? Go big - or go home.  Instead of just removing the item from the inventory you're taking part of it, rendering both halves useless.  Stealing is wrong but I think partial theft is wrong AND stupid.
  2. Do the associates really not pick up on this at all?  First of all there are cameras everywhere and undercover security guards who I've seen and picked up on from just being simply aware.  I just feel that Wal-Mart wouldn't be the smartest place to lift from.. but I guess if they're only stealing half of a product the shoplifters are not the brightest crayons in the box.
  3. I really feel for whoever doesn't know what the item is supposed to be 100% and might not have the knowledge to count the things in the box.  Granted, you shouldn't HAVE to be counting and taking inventory but luckily I did because I almost bought a 1/2 empty box.

Anyways, I picked up"Cut It Out" which looks like a uncolored coloring book and I think I might have to fill some flowers in before I remove it officially (=  Application was easier than I thought, the first nail (right pinky) had a crease so I re-did it.  But the rest went on easier as soon as I got into the groove.

I'm not sure if it's me (which I am assuming it is me because nobody else seemed to have this problem..) but I've had two minor chips within a few hours.  I filed the edges like they said to, though.  Fortunately, the background color is white so it doesn't show much that it is chipped.

I know the edges look a little choppy here, but that's because I did the fine tuning filing after the pics.  Also, my own fault, there's a gappy gap on my thumb.  Barely noticeable in real life though!

In an attempt to salvage my 10$ manicure I have since sealed the tips with a top coat and it seems to be helping out quite a bit.

HAPPY HAPPY YELLOW

WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?! I knew taking two English courses at once would be tough but I'm crazy enough to have to do it again and again.  As an English minor I need a total of 39 credits in English courses and I'm not even sure how many I have now, but nowhere near enough is a safe answer for the moment.  Its paper after paper after paper AFTER FKING PAPER.  Its mostly tedious.  That's the worst part; when it starts to feel super redundant.

I haven't been blogging hardly and I've barely had the energy to change my polish.  I'm actually taking a break right now because I just wrote about 5 pages (of my paper) and have another 5 or so to go. twitch.

HERE'S SOME SUNSHINE TO CHEER US ALL UP (=

Essences "Sundancer"
3 coats + TC

I LOVE this color. It really doesn't look all too pretty on my pasty skin but I LOVEEEEE yellow and this particular shade is just so happy.  It reminds me EXACTLY of Crayola's Goldenrod crayon. AMIRITE? My friend Coryn said that same thing too - so obviously it must be true.
